FAQ About Your Library Card
Who can get a card
The library will provide service at no cost to people who reside or own property in our legal service area which includes the following: Everett and Merrill townships, the City of White Cloud, and the White Cloud Area School District. We also contract with the townships of Goodwell, Home, Lincoln, Monroe, and Wilcox. Big Prairie and Sherman township residents within the White Cloud School District are also eligible to receive a card. Non-resident cards (available to anyone outside our service area) are available to purchase for $50.00 a year or $5.00 per month.
How to Get Your Card
To apply for a card, you need to have a valid driver's license or state ID with your name and current street address, you must live within the White Cloud Public School District, or one of our contracted service areas. Children under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present to sign their registration card. Replacement cards issued due to loss, misplacement, or damage will cost $3.00.
Borrowing Limits
New patrons may check out 6 books until they become an established patron. All patrons are limited to 6 dvd's or videos or a combination of both and a total of 12 per household, 6 music cd's, and 2 cd-rom's.
Placing Holds
Patrons may place holds on materials within the Lakeland Library Cooperative (LLC) by accessing the Lakenet online catalog HERE. Books less than 6 months old or audio/visual materials owned by other libraries cannot be placed on hold. These items can only be placed on hold by White Cloud patrons if they are currently owned by WCCL. Books older than 6 months owned at any LLC library may be placed on hold for pick-up at WCCL.
Renewing Your Borrowed Items
Items can be renewed one to two times by accessing your patron account HERE or by calling the library at 231-689-6631. Please be aware that some items cannot be renewed. If you are unable to access your patron account, please call the library during open hours to speak with a librarian.
Library Fines
Fines are $0.15 a day for each book, cd, vocal book, or magazine. Fines are $1.00 a day for each dvd, video, or cd-rom.
