Video
Selection Policy
The White Cloud Community Library subscribes to the
use of video materials as a means of home entertainment, information,
and instruction. In supplying these materials the Library will use the
following criteria:
-
Tapes must be VHS format, 1/2 in. width
-
Subject matter should be appropriate for home use,
keeping in mind the various interests of all patrons.
-
Library staff will select and maintain the
collection in accordance with the standards and criteria set forth
in the LIBRARY MATERIALS SELECTION POLICY adopted by the Library
Board. All titles purchased will include films with a MPAA (Motion
Picture Association of America) rating of G,PG,PG-13 or R. No
X-rated films will be selected. In addition to film classics,
educational, and travel video, the Library will acquire popular
movie titles selected from reviews, lists of other libraries and
patron requests.
-
Patrons must be 18 years of age to check out
videos.
We strive for a reasonable balance and variety of
materials in the collection for both children and adults.
The Library recommends that patrons preview videocassettes to ensure
suitability for family viewing. It is the Library Board's feeling that
the parents should decide what their child should view.
